Completed apartment prepared for controlled furniture delivery, placement and installation

What Should an Apartment Furniture Delivery Checklist Include?

An apartment furniture delivery checklist should cover building access, item access, delivery timing, room placement, assembly, condition checks and packaging removal. The goal is simple: make sure every item can reach the correct room and that somebody owns each decision before the truck arrives.

What should you confirm with the building?

  • Approved move-in or delivery date and time.
  • Loading dock or parking instructions.
  • Lift booking and lift dimensions.
  • Required protection for lift and common areas.
  • Building contact on the day.
  • Any contractor induction or access rules.
  • Balcony or external-lift restrictions if relevant.

Building rules vary, so get the current procedure directly from management rather than assuming what applied at another apartment.

What should you confirm with the furniture provider?

Give the team the final address, apartment number, access instructions and a room plan. Confirm the largest packaged dimensions, whether pieces arrive assembled, who assembles them and whether packaging is removed.

For whole-home installs, label the schedule by room so every box and component has a destination.

What should you check before the truck leaves?

  • Count items against the schedule.
  • Photograph obvious carton damage before unpacking.
  • Check furniture for chips, scratches, stains or missing components.
  • Test table stability and basic sofa/module connections.
  • Confirm beds and tables are fully assembled.
  • Record missing or damaged items immediately.

Do not wait a week to work out whether something was missing on delivery day.

How should room placement be handled?

Have the floorplan or layout available. Installation is faster and cleaner when the team knows the intended sofa orientation, table location, bedside positions and outdoor setup before unloading.

OPEN4's logistics model is a useful industry example of why transport and installation are separate work streams. Move-in Studio similarly describes end-to-end delivery as part of FF&E execution.

What about settlement timing?

If the property is new, keep the booking conditional until possession and building access are confirmed. DORSA's pre-settlement furniture guide and handover checklist cover that risk.

Bottom line

A good apartment furniture delivery is planned before delivery day. Confirm the building, the access route, the room plan, the assembly scope and the defect process so the installation team is solving furniture—not chasing permissions.
